SIMOLD plastic moulding steels are used in the large-scale production of plastic, synthetic resin and rubber which requires a homogeneous and uniform tool quality. This can be reached if the steel used to produce the tools has high wear and corrosion resistance, hardness, toughness, high polishability, good surface texture properties, and is ensuring minimal dimensional changes after heat treatment or is already delivered in the heat-treated condition.
The main characteristics of the SIMOLD tool steels for plastic moulding are Microcleanliness (EFS and ESR grades available), High polishability, Machinability (sulphur alloyed steel), Temperature resistance, Wear resistance and Dimensional stability.
